What is a MP3 file?
MP3 made digital music mainstream and remains the most compatible audio format in existence. Its lossy compression shrinks audio to roughly a tenth of its original size while keeping quality most listeners can't tell apart from the source.
What is a WAV file?
WAV stores raw, uncompressed audio exactly as recorded — the standard working format in studios, samplers and audio editors. Perfect fidelity, but files run to roughly 10 MB per minute.
Why convert MP3 to WAV?
MP3 is already compressed, so it's mostly converted when an editor, sampler or system demands raw WAV audio. WAV keeps audio uncompressed and edit-ready, which production tools and samplers expect.

First, the honest part: quality doesn't come back
Converting MP3 to WAV does not improve the sound. The detail MP3 discarded is gone permanently; the WAV simply stores the same audio uncompressed. Anyone promising “restored quality” from this conversion is selling something.

Expect a much bigger file
Uncompressed stereo audio runs about 10 MB per minute — roughly seven times the size of the same audio as a typical MP3. That's normal; the size buys compatibility, not quality.
