What a QR code can hold
A QR code stores text — a URL, a message, contact details — up to a few kilobytes at most. Type or paste what you want encoded into the chat (“make a QR code for https://example.com”) and you get a crisp PNG back, up to 2048 pixels.
“Turn my audio/video file into a QR code”
This is the most common misconception we see: a QR code physically cannot contain an audio or video file — a three-minute MP3 is thousands of times larger than what fits in any QR code.
What works instead: upload the file somewhere shareable (Google Drive, Dropbox, your website), copy the share link, and generate a QR code of that link. Scanning it opens or plays the file. Paste your share link in the chat here and you're done in seconds.
Print size and scannability
Rule of thumb: the scanning distance should be at most ten times the code's width — a 2 cm code scans from 20 cm, a poster needs a much larger one. Codes here are generated with medium error correction, which tolerates minor smudges and still scans reliably.
Shorter content makes simpler, more forgiving codes. If your URL is very long, shorten it first — a dense QR code is harder to scan from a distance or at an angle.
Before you print
Always test-scan from a real phone at the distance your audience will use, on the actual background color. Dark-on-light scans best; avoid placing the code over busy imagery or inverting the colors.
