What is a WAV file?
WAV stores raw, uncompressed audio exactly as recorded — the standard working format in studios, samplers and audio editors. Perfect fidelity, but files run to roughly 10 MB per minute.
What is a MP3 file?
MP3 made digital music mainstream and remains the most compatible audio format in existence. Its lossy compression shrinks audio to roughly a tenth of its original size while keeping quality most listeners can't tell apart from the source.
